La Tribuleira’s Moscato Passito is a sweet dessert wine. It is a very intense wine. The color is deep golden yellow with amber reflections. It has an intense and complex aroma of the exotic Moscato grape and undertones of honey. The flavor is sweet, harmonious, soft and aromatic.
Serve this Moscato Passito to a chocolate dessert or well-matured cheeses. I can also be recommended to Fois Gras. The wine should be enjoyed at 8-10°C, this will ensure that all the tasting sensations are brought forward. Moscato Passito is a very stable wine and can be stored in the fridge for several days without loosing its characteristics.
Passito, or straw wine, is a wine made from grapes that have been dried to concentrate their juice. The result is similar to that of the ice wine process, but suitable for warmer climates. The grapes are dried in ventilated areas in open wine boxes for approx. 4 weeks. The technique dates back to pre-Roman times, and most production of these wines has been in Northern Italy and the French Alps. Straw wines are typically sweet to very sweet white wines, similar in density and sweetness to Sauternes and capable of long life. The low yields and labor-intensive production method means that they are quite expensive.
