A true Chianti: fruity, balanced and rounded. The ideal accompaniment for every meal and an enrichment for the evening that follows.
L’Alano is the Italian word for ‘Great Dane’ – the huge, powerful dog that has been symbolized in the Counts Von Toggenburg’s coat of arms since the Middle Ages. Ever a faithful companion through a long and turbulent history, he now guards our Chianti, protecting this living part of Tuscan wine culture.

Serve with: Perfect with pasta and pizza, as well as meat dishes of veal, beef or pork, and semi- mature cheeses.
Grape varieties: 90% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo und Colorino
For the production of L’Alano all the best grapes from our different vineyards come together. The variety of location and exposure, of soils and of the ages of the vines provides a wonderful basis for a complete and complex wine. L’Alano is fermented in a concrete vat where at the end of the process the biological breakdown of the acidity occurs. A further 10 months in the concrete vats follow with a brief excursion in middle-sized wooden casks. After a three-month maturation period the L’Alano is bottled ready for selling.
